    • VIP Wristband Giveaway – February 2010

So as the month of March creeps toward us the magical week of SXSW gets closer. We can all taste it. The rumors have started flying as to whose playing where, who is taking over what, who is giving away free booze, and who the fuck let this band in to Texas?

That being said Knuckle Rumbler, as you already know, has a ton of great events this month. We are very proud of these and already know that they will be packed. However as extra incentive to come out and a thank you to everyone supporting KR in 2010 we are offering up the KR VIP Wristband Giveaway. We have four events this month that if you can make it all of them we will reward you with a VIP wristband to The Rumbler Lounge parties that we are throwing during that special week in March. If you didn’t get to see our lounge last year it looked something like this:

What does VIP get you? It gets you line jumping privs at the show, complimentary beer in VIP for all four days, and a few more KR treats yet to be announced. And who can you expect to see this year? Well we can’t release that just yet but last year we had these bands play (you may have heard of a few of them): King Khan, Love Language, Theophilus London, B.o.B. aka Bobby Ray, Zeale, Juliette Lewis, Lady Sovereign, Ebony Bones, Eli ‘Paperboy’ Reed, Reverend Payton’s Big Damn Band, Those Darlins, Henry Clay People, Scorpion Child, Megafaun, Dark Meat, Anni Rossi, Golden Filter, Hockey, Casiokids, These United States, J. Tillman, and more. So expect to see the best. Check out this video from Rusty Screw of just some of the acts we had on board last year:

Check out more videos from us here.

How are we keeping track? We will have postcards with our Feb events listed to give out tonight at Adi Fest 2.5, come to the event and we will stamp your card. You must come ask us for the card and for stamps at subsequent events, the door guy will have no idea what you are talking about. Or if you are super efficient, feel free to print the card out yourself. Additional notes below. Here it is:

      Notes:

      - The same card must be used for all events. No combining cards with your buddy.

      - KR is a part of other events in February outside of these four but they do not count toward the VIP wristband.

      - We accept no substitutes, nor should you.

      - Stamps must come from Jill or Aaron or Vanessa.

      - Anyone suspected of cheating the system will be given a cookie for trying but their card will be pulled (that shit sounds gangster).

      - We will inform everyone how to redeem their cards later this month.

Fantastic Romantic: A celebration of the birth of Chris “Prince” Klassen

Prince Klassen is one of Austin’s best kept secrets (despite being from San Antonio) and its time to celebrate his ability to keep things fresh for 27 years. Fantastic Romantic will be taking place Saturday, February 6th at The Parish. Join Knuckle Rumbler, Scion, and Sneak Attack Austin in lighting up the dance floor while listening to jams taken from the lifespan of the DJ that spins your favorite DJs’ parties.

You may know Klassen from being at Nasty’s every Monday with DJ Mel and Beauty Bar every Friday with drunk hipsters but very few of you probably know that he has been featured across the country in SPIN, FADER, and on East Village Radio regularly. This is a man that gives respect and is giving Austin one hell of a party.

      Fantastic Points of the Night:

      • Sneak Attack Austin is going to have a great pop up shop with the latest kicks, gear you can’t find anywhere else, and of course soul.
      • Scion will have your grab bags of mags and mixtapes that will stay fresh in your car’s cd player.
      • The stops have been pulled out and favors have been used to bring in artists who have influenced and been influenced by Klassen for years and now have the perfect excuse to come party. Playing along side the Prince will be: DJ Orion, Damaged Good$ , and members of Fully Fitted Crew/ Spank Rock DJs PASE ROCK and DEVLIN from DEVLIN & DARKO!!!
      • If you wear a birthday hat then you get $1 off the cover charge!

      Romantic Points of the Night:

      • You know how babies are made, right? It’s a birthday. That’s all the romance you need.

      So let’s recap:

      DIGITAL LOVE: February 12

On February 12, in partnership with Knuckle Rumbler and Playing in Traffic RecordsDIGITAL LOVE is going to be THE Valentine’s Day Weekend event.

      speak_digilove

Headlining the event is SPEAK! Taking a cue from those who inspired them, most notably Daft Punk, SPEAK is going to get down and dirty on the dance floor. Frontman Troupe Gammage has been recording music since age 11. Mesmerized by the compositions in his favorite video games, he started creating his own using rudimentary computer software. The result is body movement.

The highlight of the night will be SPEAK’s two set performance. The first set will feature a strong set of original music that showcase the timeless melodies in energetic, synth-laden anthems. The second set will be of everyone’s favorite electronic love songs performed live! All this will be backed by a custom made light show on the gigantic 501 movie green screen.  Did someone say confetti cannons?

Opening up the night will be the debut performance from ex-Clap Clap! members Love at 20. Followed by the “very, very promising Missions will keep the night going with their distortion and synth and filtered vox all the right places.” Check out the Mission’s dark club remix of Love at 20’s “So Bad” on BIGSTEREO. DJ Markus with a K, who released the incredible ‘I HEART DAFT PUNK’ mix two years ago, will keep it moving between sets.

Since this is a Knuckle Rumbler event, you know there will be extra fun set up. Included will be analog photo booth by Annie Ray, chocolates provided by MileS of Chocolate, and custom, handmade Digital Love silk screen posters to the first 50 people in the door courtesy of Southside Sanctuary. These posters will come in an exclusive V-Day mason jar with coupons for Sweet Leaf Tea and a code to download exclusive content from SPEAK.
