In case you don’t know – The No Limit Party with Orion, Cauze One and Big Freedia is tomorrow night. There are two elements of this party. 1 – The music of No Limit Records. 2 – New Orleans Bounce artist Big Freedia. If you aren’t familiar with bounce music, its history is long and proud and deeply rooted in New Orleans. Get learn-ed:

Bounce music is an energetic style of New Orleans hip hop music which is said to have originated as early as the late 1980s, but is typically believed to have begun with the 1991 single “Where Dey At” by MC T.Tucker and DJ Irv. Check out the trailer for the film Ya Heard Me

Bounce is characterized by call and response style party and Mardi Gras Indian chants and dance call-outs that are frequently hypersexual. These chants and call-outs are typically sung over the “Triggerman beat“, which is sampled from the song “Drag Rap” by the Showboys, or “Brown beat” by Cameron Paul, and also Derek B’s “Rock The Beat”.

A’ight so last night provoked me to remind you that not everyone remembers the No Limit era. So in preparation for tomorrow night time for a lil refresher for those who haven’t been up on No Limit game.

From Wikipedia: No Limit Records was an American hip-hop record label that was founded in 1990 by hip-hop artist, Percy “Master P” Miller. It was distributed by Priority Records in 1990 before becoming defunct in 2003 after numerous lawsuits that were filed against the company.

Neon Indian | “6669 (I Don’t Know If You Know)” Video

Not many great things come out of Denton, Texas, but Neon Indian’s Alan Paloma along with his band members Ronald Gierhart, Jason Faries, and Leanne Macomber completely defy that statement. In 2009 Neon Indian released their first LP Psychic Chasms, which is still going strong in the chillwave genre. In the stop-motion animated video for “6669 (I Don’t Know If You Know)”, put together by João Machado, you watch a small creepy crawly thing with two eyes turn into a big creepy crawly thing with too many eyes. Another spoiler… the spider is fake.
