Just when you thought it was safe, YP’s gearing up to flood the scene. Before he hits everyone with his No Doz project due out later this year, YP’s dropping Sleep Walkin’ — a brand new mixtape hosted by DJ Sean Mac. Sleep Walkin’ will be YP’s first full-length project since inking a deal with Universal Republic and I can assure you that it will be a problem.

Alexander Spit ft. Chill Black Guys- BNE

Decon, the NYC-based record label, production company, and idea shop, has announced the signing of L.A. rapper/producer Alexander Spit. Spit hints at the direction of his forthcoming EP on Decon with the free track “BNE”. Self-produced and featuring Fairfax stalwarts Chill Black Guys, “BNE” (Best Night Ever) is not just the single, it’s the mission statement. Splitting Spit’s time between both of Cali’s cultural hubs growing up, his music incorporates influences from the north and south ideologically and sonically. Overt psychedelia is manifested in the subject matter as well as the sound while an appreciation of trunk-rattling low end is coupled with verses detailing the after-hours indulgence in both (while in the company of women). His last full-length, September’s These Long Strange Nights was an assertive iteration of the “shroom-bap” finding traction in the SoCal sprawl, and his new work will walk a similarly trippy path.

Ab-Soul gives us one last preview from Control System, which drops tomorrow (Friday). For this track, he called on the whole Compton collective of Black Hippy (Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock as well as himself) for this remix of his original song, “Black Lip Bastard”. Given the previews so far, Control System is sure to hold up to the success of fellow Black Hippy member, ScHoolboy Q’s solo project, Habits & Contradictions.

Spitta drops new visuals today for “Fast Cars Faster Women” off his upcoming project, The Stoned Immaculate, released June 5th. The track, featuring old school west coast rapper and former Dogg Pound member, Daz Dillinger, sticks to the script with weed, woman and muscle cars. The visuals emulate the song, as the two rappers chain smoke and watch a burlesque show full of “fast woman”.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but to be completely honest, I’m hoping that the two tracks from The Stoned Immaculate he’s released so far (this one, and “What It Look Like” ft. Wale) aren’t a preview of what the entire album will be like. I still have hope though. In the Fly We Trust!

One could call this new Kanye West video ‘simple’ and minimalistic but we all know that probably really isn’t the case. Yeezy just released the video for his latest single off My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, ‘Lost In The World’. The video, shot in black and white, features beautiful women doing some interpretive dancing while wearing designer t-shirts and Mr. West rapping on what appears to be just a glass surface. Although absent from the film, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver does lend his Grammy award-winning talents to the song. Play the video below and have a beautiful morning.
