Knuckle Rumbler is keeping the summer hot with a Wet Hot American Party June 17 at the ND with Maluca (Mad Decent), DJ Orion, and Dubbel Dutch (Palms Out Sounds)!

Born in the Bronx and raised in Manhattan by Dominican parents, Maluca is that increasingly rare bird- a downtown girl who brings together the classic cool, glamour, grit and passion of New York City in an instant! After meeting Diplo at a karaoke bar, the two starting working together resulting in her debut single “El Tigeraso” (coming via Mad Decent), an infectious track that draws on her Dominican electro merengue roots.

MALUCA had her first public performance at the SXSW FADER fort and tore the roof off with a short set that showcased her wide range of influences – from artists such as ESG, Savannah Band, Wu-Tang, Gil Scott Heron, Nina Simone to styles like Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, House, Disco, and Freestyle. Keep your eyes open and platanos peeled for the self-proclaimed “1/2 Dominican 1/2 Pain in the ass”.

Austin’s hardest working DJ, DJ Orion will be opening up the night along with Palms Out Sounds’ own Dubbel Dutch.

DJ royalty and a member of the Fully Fitted Crew (Spank Rock affliates/ Amanda Blank / Pase Rock), Prince Klassen is un-eff-wittable. ‘Unapologetically eclectic and able to make world beats, rap lyrics, and dance jamz sound innovative’ (Party Ends), Prince Klassen has been DJing since the ripe age of 14. Also a guest on Fader’s East Village Radio, he was recently added to the Free Press Summerfest (Houston) with Girl Talk and The Flaming Lips. From touring the globe with the ever-popular Yo Majesty! to playing alongside MSTRKRFT, 2 Live Crew and Ozomatli, DJ Orion has been making crowds sweat to his club-floor knockouts for over five years in the US and Europe. Most recently, Orion was a guest on Fader’s East Village Radio and released his debut album ‘Carajo Colombia!’ at Santos Party House in New York. The Black and White Years have the recipe for a good time. Since they formed as a band in 2007, they’ve had the opportunity to provide their jams at festivals such as CMJ Music Festival, Fun Fun Fun Fest,  Austin City Limits, MIDEM, O2 Wireless Festival. The band’s song, “Power to Change,” has received a fair amount of national attention via modern rock and college stations. The band is currently recording their next full length album due out this year.

After months of recording, touring and planning, two incredible bands–The Rocketboys and Quiet Company–will be releasing much-desired projects into the world. Simple Shoes, in association with Knuckle Rumbler, is presenting to you MASSIVE RELEASE!

Five bands–The Rocketboys, Quiet Company, The Eastern Sea, Murdocks and Stereo is a Lie–will be divvied up on two stages, both with an unbelievable production set-up, and, as if that’s not enough to swallow, a special guest headliner. It will be an explosion of music.

Of course, we have some surprises in store. Our unannounced headliner will make you Butler your bread after Landon on the moon. In addition, we are offering 50 VIP tickets, which include entry to the show, copies of The Rocketboys’ and Quiet Company’s new releases, free beer all night, and a Simple Shoes gift bag.

The Rocketboys will be back in town after extensive national touring–including performances at CMJ, Daytrotter, and SXSW in the past eight months–to showcase their mastery of mood and sound for their Austin faithful. Releasing their debut full-length, “20,000 Ghosts”, on vinyl, the six piece serves up heartfelt indie rock layered with full-band singing parts. Since moving to Austin in 2009, The Rocketboys have become a local favorite.

Quiet Company will provide their always-uplifting songs, ranging from raucously energetic to beautifully intimate–and everything in between. Their melodies are haunting and infectious, and they are known as an exceptional live band around town. Quiet Company will release EP “Songs for Staying In” at the MASSIVE RELEASE, and a song and video for each track every Monday until the event at www.quietcompanymusic.com.

The Eastern Sea, explained as “a whole breed of puppies, eager to be whole, act as a cushion as you press against the glass walls surrounding your kind, sped up for convenience. Your pressings sound like knocking to the kindly cacti, cooling themselves on the other side and able to convince the stiffer species to allow you outside so you can take those puppies for a stroll”, whatever that means.

Stereo Is A Lie is a true buzz band and won the Deli Magazine’s Emerging Artist poll, beating Neon Indian, Black Joe Lewis and Missions. A very impressive feat for an up and coming band.
