Joe is a native Texan holding it down in Austin since 2007. When he isn’t tweeting, twatting, or facebooking, and filling up your timeline with badass event information, you can find him doing hood rat things with his hood rat friends up and down the streets of the ATX. His drink of choice is a whiskey with water because that is what men in South Texas drink. Hip hop shows are a safe haven for Mr. Cabralez because they allow him to indulge in the previously mentioned beverage and cut some rugs. But don’t think that Joe doesn’t have a soft side. His bulldog, Bridget, and Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise mix, Claude, are there for him emotionally and serve as his brain trust 24/7. Follow Joe on Twitter and Instagram (@joecabralez) or friend him on facebook!
Hailing from Denver, Colorado comes one tall glass of water that goes by the alias of Justin, who does in fact have a Steve Urkel tattoo. His real name is JP, but you can call him Hennesy. While working, finishing school, riding bikes, shralping in the high country of the Bi-centennial state, you can find JP listening to hip-hop music. And yes, only that. All rap everything! Also, lets make this clear, hip-hop and rap are the same thing. Now that we have that all cleared up, Hennesy enjoys a nice PBR and a shot of Jim, perhaps a mentholated cigarette if it’s the weekend. Justin currently saw Dom Kennedy at the Larimer Lounge on Monday, December 3; the jerk didn’t even play his old stuff. What a waste, am I right? JP was raised on sneakers, WCW and WWF (not WWE), “Doggy Style”, “Slang Editorial” by Cappadonna and Pennywise.
Educated-dumbass, dangerous simpleton, magnanimous critic. Kwame Shorter is none of those. Between balancing a late evening schedule with more practical endeavors, he believes in his passion for writing and whatever. A lover of music, literature on the subject has found him to write more beefy alliterations, and alliterations about beefs.
Kwame Shorter runs a blog and podcast in Chicago, “Holy Moly” with artists he meets. He also keeps busy in his spare time writing comedy and freelancing articles. Find Kwame on twitter @kwameshorter.
Madison is just another Austin transplant who loves music too much. The thing that sets her apart from all the other psuedo-hipsters of the city is her honest and unabashed white-girl-fro. If you stop her on the street, Madison will be jamming to anything from Counting Crows to Nacho Picasso. If it’s conversation you want, chat her up about Birkenstocks, or tell her you hate Matchbox Twenty.
Robert Martin is a Chicago based contributor currently studying Journalism at DePaul University where he also hosts a weekly radio show titled “the Bob dance”. Raised on alternative rock and hip-hop in the the M.A.A.D. suburban streets of Kansas City, Robert first wrote about music while reviewing a Decemberists record for his high school newspaper. This literary awakening led him to the world of music blogs, and eventually, the wonderful staff at Knuckle Rumbler. You can catch Robert’s frequent song previews, show updates, and the occasional full blown review right here.
Lauren Wilkins was born in a trash can behind Dan’s Hamburgers while Ice Cube was playing out of a Cadillac nearby. Later, in sixth grade, Wilkins began writing “Lauryn” on all of her schoolwork in an effort to emulate Ms. Lauryn Hill. This unique beginning of her life seriously impacted the ‘realness’ she assumes the responsibility to dispel on many players in today’s Hip Hop game. Today, she continues to reside in Austin, TX and impose her unsolicited opinion of Hip Hop on anyone within a 100-mile radius. In the dark of you night, you can find her in the cut as “Pilot Wilkins”.
