What happens when you mix some ethereal shoegaze, a little bit of psychedelic pop, and a vocalist who very well could be Damon Albarn’s and Thom Yorke’s lovechild? Sundress happens. This quintet from Denton, Texas will take the stage at Beauty Bar’s Art Disaster on September 15 and are sure to gain your attention. With howling, tranced out guitar and dreamy melodies, Sundress is highly reminiscent of the late 80s and early 90s best shoegaze acts.
The band has gone through a number of name changes and member changes over the past few years, but after hearing their debut self-titled EP, it’s apparent that Sundress has gotten their act together and are well on their way to breaking into the national music scene. With nods from The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne, and sharing the stage with bands like the Smith Westerns, Washed Out, and the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Sundress is sure to be a band you’ll be hearing a lot of.
So, RSVP at ArtDisaster.com for $3 entry and get a free download from Sundress and a track from all of the other artists playing Art Disaster 13! There will be some cheaper than cheap drinks at Beauty Bar from 8pm-9pm.
