Chances are that if you go out in Austin on any give night you can find this guy playing at some venue downtown. Whether he’s spearheading Peligrosa or playing a solo set, DJ Orión is hard at work spinning music that is both unique and infectious. For almost a decade, DJ Orión has been a staple in the Austin music scene. He has crafted a very particular musical niche that has created a huge fan base. The Latino DJ’s repertoire includes everything from hip hop, house, funk, jazz, to tribal, dubstep, and most importantly cumbia. Orión has brought the genre of cumbia to the forefront of Austin’s dance scene. Because of this, DJ Orión has gained national and global attention by touring European and US cities across the map and playing along an impressive list of popular acts such as GZA, Kid Sister, MSTRKRFT, and Big Freedia just to name a few.

Orión is also a successful entrepreneur who heads up his own homegrown record label, Raw Word Records. He has released several albums and mixes under this label and produces music for other local artists. It is no doubt that he is a phenomenal DJ, ingenious producer, and a true artist.
