Paleo debuts “Holly Would” video, forthcoming LP

There’s nothing as refreshing as a clear spring day, so it seems appropriate that the wily, free-spirited songwriting of David Strackany always seems to surface around this time of year. In 2006, starting Easter day, Strackany wrote and recorded a song a day every day for an entire year, gaining mass coverage by USA Today and the New York Post for the project he dubbed “The Song Diary.” Years later, Strackany has abandoned his low-fi bedroom recordings and emerged with “Holly Would,” the quirky, upbeat single from Paleo’s forthcoming LP Fruit of the Spirit. Strackany’s vocals are as brash as can be, his highest notes scratchy and sometimes a little out of key, but with sticky-as-honey melodies reminiscent of the Blue Album they feel as unadulterated as a child who taps you from behind and exclaims, ‘Tag, you’re it!’ Whether you’re cruising with the windows down or laying barefoot in the grass, “Holly Would” will be your go-to summer jam.
